I read Jane Blythe's Stranger in the Snow: WOW, what a start! I do love a damsel in distress during a storm and Paisley has run into a human and a natural disaster that leaves her injured and at the mercy of Stephen. Is he a good guy or the bad guy? Is there such a thing as love at first sight? I can only imagine, through Jane Blythe’s well written story, the terror that Paisley must have felt by what she saw, the injury from the crash, the pitch black I read Jane Blythe's Stranger in the Snow: WOW, what a start! Predictable, but terrifying. Jane gets me involved even though I know what’s going to happen, I am apprehensive, uptight and eager to know. OH NO! Didn’t see that coming until it was too late. Well…Stranger in the Snow has a delightfully intense ending and I give Jane Blythe a high five on a job well done. It’s not the easiest thing to do…get someone totally engrossed in a novella. I have read a lot of these types of books lately and honestly found this collection to be refreshingly different. The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole of each story. I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the worlds created. The attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

So, what Stranger in the Snow has taught me is that if you are driving in the snow and see someone holding what you think is a human head to just keep driving and not try and avoid the psycho in the road, ha ha ha. Wow! What a gripping read this story was!! Stranger in the Snow is a short story that is a part of a multi-author box set called Whispers of Winter. This is the only story I have read from that set but if it is any indication of the theme then it is surely to be a box set that I would very much enjoy reading!! Paisley encountered an unthinkable image on her way home and it was such a jarring one that she found herself run off the road. As if that is not bad enough, another problem was that she caught only a glimpse of the man who was crossing the road and she has no idea what he really looked like. When she regained consciousness, it was to a man who was trying to assist her. Can you even imagine? Paisley was caught between trusting a man who could for all intents and purposes be misleading her so that she could become his next victim or he could be a good Samaritan who is truly just trying to help. This conundrum was the driving force that led Paisley into a horrifying scenario that I can’t even begin to think about. Stranger in the Snow was a spine-tingling short story that will keep you turning the pages! I love reading stories by Ms. Blythe because it always causes me to consider what I would do if I had been in the character’s shoes, so to speak. I love that because it draws me right in alongside the character and I become absolutely invested in the outcome. There was also enough reasonable doubt woven into the telling of this story which kept me on the edge as to whether or not correct assumptions were being made. This was such a riveting read that will keep you guessing and I highly recommend it to you! This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Jane Blythe. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating. Find this review and more at The Genre Minx Book Reviews

Since I received this book free as an ARC, I really tried to like it so I could give a glowing review. It is an anthology, and I haven’t tried all the stories yet, but the ones I have tried have not encouraged me to finish the book. The anthology is supposed to be a “romance collection”. It is an anthology, and I haven’t tried all the stories yet, but the ones I have tried have not encouraged me to finish the book. The anthology is supposed to be a “romance collection”. The first story I read was by Caitlyn Lynch. In tone, that story was all over the place: starting with a scene involving a joint employment opportunity for a young woman and her grandfather, then moving on to a torrid sexual encounter between the young woman and a man with whom she’s never had a full-length conversation (where’s the romance there?), before finally ending with a warm family scene that implies the romantic relationship that developed after the sex. The next 2 stories I tried were so badly in need of copy editing that I quit each after reading just a few pages. I am, however, left with the goofy image of a public library as a sentient being, preoccupied by its patrons. So that particular story wasn’t a total loss. Ha! Vicki Batman’s offering of “The Great Fruitcake Bake-off” was more G-rated than the other stories I finished. I found it kind of refreshing that the emphasis was more “romance”, but the premise of an apartment complex sponsoring baking contests for the residents seemed a bit far fetched to me. Jan Springer’s entry offered a heroine with all the classic “let’s see how I can endanger myself” faults: sign out of hospital when doctor wants you to stay, don’t share with anyone what is really going on with your health. The story was an ambitious effort at romantic suspense-thriller in this collection’s short format. There are more stories in the collection, but I doubt I’ll be spending more time with this book. Just nothing compelling here. I would give it 2 stars based on the 5 stories I have tried or finished, but will bump it up to 3 stars to give the benefit of the doubt to the authors whose stories I skipped.

I found this set on Booksprout and was excited to read more of Caitlyn Lynch and Suzanne Jenkin's books and to be introduced to new authors. I didn't see anywhere on Booksprout stating this was porn, explicit sex, call it what you want. Not a prude or a voyeur, but I get extremely bored by written sex and just want a well written story. I read Ms. Lynch's until the explicit sex started and with flipping pages, it appeared to continue to the end of the story. This box set is amazing. There is a story for everyone and for all heat levels. My review is on a wolf's claim. This book is about a witch who goes to the annual holiday ball. This ball is for all paranormal entities as well as humans. She is reserved to never find a mate and live to be an old witch without a mate helping everyone. She soon realizes that her fate is about to change. Very steamy resad with HEA. This is only one book in this mass collection. It does not disappoint. I re This box set is amazing. Regarding the short story Winter Encounter by Karen Cino, I was disappointed by several aspects of this read. I couldn’t engage with the characters with the conversation style and limited supplemental story detail. There are typos and a section of word block repeated. The back stories are abruptly introduced and at times exit equally abruptly. The ending just doesn’t make sense. It’s a whole new story line introduced and ends far too abruptly, as well as that being the conclusion to the story.
